- Knitting is such a part of my life and I love to design patterns that are whimsical and fun to knit. My family and I live totally off the electrical grid in the California mountains. A 3K wind turbine, 32 backup batteries and one HUGE diesel generator keep us supplied with electricity. We even have our own well that's over 400 feet deep! I also make oodles of socks on our antique sock machine that just happens to be named "Doris". She's approximately 90 - 100 years old!
